Monday programme in detail
Please note that you will also need a wristband to attend features at the County Assembly Rooms. Wristbands will be available for collection or purchase from Event Control situated in Castle Square. Wristbands also give access to the public areas of the Castle (to which you can also gain access by buying a Castle entrance ticket) as well as the marquees, Men's Prison and Heritage Centre.

Westgate School Playground
Muster for the Grand Parade
All wristband holders are invited to gather together in the Westgate School playground to form up for the Grand Parade which will be taking a very slightly longer route than normal this year (to be published with a map in advance of the Asylum).
11:00 - 12:00
Westgate School - Chapel Lane - Bailgate - Eastgate - Munster Yard - Exchequer Gate - Castle Square - Castle
The Grand Parade
Either come and be part of this most amazing Steampunk Grand Parade or else join the crowds lining the streets as this awesome exhibition of creativity winds its way through the Historic Quarter of Lincoln and into the Castle grounds.

12:00 - 12:30
The County Assembly Rooms
The Old Curiosity Swap
A new feature for Asylum XIII, the 'OCS' is an opportunity for participants to swap items with each other, such as trinkets, badges, patches or whatever else they wish to bring along. The principal rule is that no money must exchange hands - this is purely for swapping items. You are of course free to take part in the trading of treasures at any time over the weekend but we have designated several times and locations over the weekend when people wishing to take part in this fun activity can find each other more easily.

12:00 - 12:30
The Castle Bandstand
The Steampunk Sallys
This could be your last chance to give up the demon drink before Asylum XIV! Come, see and hear the magnificent Steampunk Sallys. There will be tambourines. There will be many many smiles. There will be a lot of Annas. Don't miss it.
12:30 - 13:30
The County Assembly Rooms
The Illicit Market #2
A second opportunity for small independent traders to come along and sell their wares whilst doing their best to escape the eye of the law. This is a fun event which mixes up trading and role playing. It is known as 'the market that doesn't happen'. You can find out more about it under the 'Features' tab on the website.

12:30 - 13:00
The Castle Bandstand
Facial Hair Competition
After multiple costume competitions it's only natural to turn our attention to facial hair. If you find yourself sporting a fabulous beard and/or moustache then come along to the Bandstand where our team of expert judges will determine who is to receive this year's medal for the finest facial hair! This feature is sponsored by Greek Gods Beard Care.

12:30 - 13:30
Men's Prison Exercise Yard
The First Asylum Parasol Duelling Competition
The competition you have all been waiting for. Parasol Duelling comes to the Asylum. Think Rock, Paper Scissors and Parasols and you can't go far wrong. A non-contact sport for genteel Steampunks (not for the riff-raff who prefer to shoot missiles at each other).

12:30 - 13:30
The Heritage Centre
Penny Dreadful Creative Workshop
The return of our fun creative workshop where you free your imagination to deliver a sensational headline, story, or illustration for Asylum’s very own Penny Dreadful publication! Will the Kracken return? Will the Octopus Traps be found? Can the Button shortage continue and are the French really going to ban our tea? Who knows what extraordinary tales a desperate deadline may unlock! Join comic artists Colin Mathieson (Moments of Adventure, Zulu) and David Morris (Norton The Dragon, Quantum) who will guide you through the editorial process to create your very own Penny Dreadful broadsheet to take away with you. Paper, templates, and pens will be provided in this informal workshop, suitable for all.

13:00 - 13:30
The Castle Bandstand
Madam Misfit
Assuming she's got her voice back after last night's performance at the Major's Soiree, Madam Misfit will be treating us to her melodious charms on the Bandstand. You can expect chaphop, electroswing and a miscellany of styles.

13:00 - 13:30
The Castle Marquee
Rebel Steam Meet-Up
Are you sporting a Star Wars themed outfit this year? Come along and join other like-minded steampunks in the castle marquee to chat and admire each other's outfits prior to the bandstand photoshoot on the Bandstand.

The County Assembly Rooms
The World Tea Duelling Championship
If you have come to the Asylum from another Country you are invited to come along and represent that Dominion in the World Tea Duelling Championships. The winner of the Asylum XIII championship will also get to take part. Whoever wins will then be the reigning World Tea Duelling Champion for the next 12 months and they will receive a medal to prove it.

13:30 - 14:30
The Castle Marquee
Madam Misfit Meet and Merch
This is your chance to meet up with Madam Misfit (who was also responsible for B.A.P.S. on Saturday). Find out whether she is really a misfit at all and see what merch she has brought along with her.

13:30 - 14:00
The Castle Bandstand
Rebel Steam Photoshoot
One of the most popular photoshoots of the weekend. Come along and join a plethora of characters in Star Wars themed Steampunk outfits. Do you recognise the characters? Can you tell who are from the Dark side or the Light side? Maybe there will be some bounty hunters too. Or creatures. Or a death star. The Force is always strong with this photoshoot.

14:00 - 14:30
The Castle Bandstand
The Cogkneys
Having hosted the Asylum Introducing evening on Saturday night, this is your chance to see the Cogkneys perform a set of their own sketches and songs on the castle bandstand. The whole castle will be getting into full-on party mode by this stage.

14:00 - 15:00
The Men's Prison Car Park
Teapot Racing
Your last chance to spectate or compete in this most splendid and awesome Steampunk sport. The chances are that when you go home tomorrow your teapots will all be stationary. How boring is that? Come and see if you can take home the day's medal for the fastest lap of the assault course this afternoon. You might even be the fastest of the whole weekend and win an Mos Medal - or the slowest and take home the 'Tea Cosy of Doom'!

14:00 - 15:00
The Heritage Centre
Stephenson's Robot
Comic creators Dave West and Steve Tanner (Time Bomb Comics) reveal details of Stephenson’s Robot, their new graphic novel release resulting from Queen Victoria’s challenge to Brunel and Stephenson to build an army of robots – what could possibly go wrong?
14:30 - 15:30
The County Assembly Rooms
Where Next for the Ministry of Steampunk?

We will talk about our plans for all of the events over the next 12 months up to and including Asylum XIV in August 2024.

Victor and the Bully
Party time reaches it's climax for the afternoon as VATB take to the castle marquee for their final set of the weekend. You can expect singing. You can expect dancing. We can neither confirm nor deny whether there will be the hokey cokey. Just make sure you don't get trampled underfoot.

14:30 - 16:00
The Castle Marquee
The Cogkneys and Victor and the Bully Meet and Merch
Come along and meet the Cogkneys who will be joined by VATB after their set. Find out more about these veterans of the Asylum and buy yourself some merch!

The Closing Ceremony
Come and join us at The Bandstand for the closing ceremony. We will be celebrating the splendour of the weekend, giving out a host of our new MoS medals and MoS awards for creativity, we will be announcing the winner of Saturday night's Asylum Introducing show and there will be one or two more surprises.
For those who are coming to the Dead Dog Party at the County Assembly Rooms we will then see you all again later as we party on into the night.
Thank you to everyone who has come to and supported Asylum XIII. We hope you have had a brilliant time and look forward to doing it all (and more) again next year. You are the people who make the event the amazing experience that it is.
