Please note that for all events at the Assembly Rooms participants will require a Weekend or Sunday festival wristband. Wristbands will be available for collection or purchase from Event Control situated in Castle Square. Wristbands also give access to the public areas of the Castle (to which you can also gain access by buying a Castle entrance ticket) as well as the marquees, Men's Prison and Heritage Centre. Events in the Westgate School playground are open to all. The Patreon's (Second) Breakfast is open to Ministry of Steampunk Patreons only.

10:30 - 10:50
The Castle Banjo
The Teapot Promenade
While waiting for the Uniform Parade, why not come along to the Castle Banjo to see a promenade of the most splendid Racing Teapots? All motorised teapots are welcome to take part. Just don't expect any of them to make you a cup of tea...

10:30 - 10:55
The Men's Prison Exercise Yard
Muster for the Uniform Parade
Those groups who will be taking part in the Uniform Parade (by prior arrangement) are asked to Muster in readiness for the start of the parade. Remember, Shouty Man is a stickler for punctuality.

11:00 - 12:00
The Castle Banjo
The Uniform Parade
This is the more formal of the two parades that takes place at Asylum. All militaryesque or otherwise uniformed groups are welcome to participate, but they must pre-register with the Shouty Man (get in touch using the 'contact us' form under the 'get involved' tab above). The parade will be inspected by Queen Victoria and will be followed by a minute's silence. More information about the various groups you are likely to see parading can be found in 'The Uniform Parade' section under the 'Features' tab above.

11:00 - 12:00
The Heritage Centre
Faking It Until You Make It
Come and join Erika Madelin to learn how she made a fake faerie museum exhibit complete with a fake faerie burial mound and contents, field notebook etc. Think 'Sutton Hoo' but on a much smaller scale.

12:00 - 12:30
The County Assembly Rooms
The Old Curiosity Swap
A new feature for Asylum XIII, the 'OCS' is an opportunity for participants to swap items with each other, such as trinkets, badges, patches or whatever else they wish to bring along. The principal rule is that no money must exchange hands - this is purely for swapping items. You are of course free to take part in the trading of treasures at any time over the weekend but we have designated several times and locations over the weekend when people wishing to take part in this fun activity can find each other more easily.

12:00 - 12:30
The Castle Bandstand
Steampunk Sallys
Come along and enjoy the bracing optimism, exuberance and sheer joy of one of Steampunk's newer crazy ideas. The Steampunk Sallys' blend of music and mayhem will be sure to have you tapping your feet and singing along and they might even persuade you to give up the 'demon drink'. Every member of the Sallys' army is called Anna, but that is another story altogether...

12:00 - 13:00
The Heritage Centre
Irene Adler: Creating a Steampunk Comic Book Heroine
Paul McCaffrey, artist on Titan Comics Adler series, will be talking about how he and award-winning writer Lavie Tidhar brought their interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic adventuress to the comic book page. He’ll be discussing their influences – visual, literary, and historical – as well as talking about the many other characters – some well-known, some not – populating Adler’s world and where her story might go next...

12:30 - 13:30
The County Assembly Rooms
Belly Fusion Dance Collective Workshop
So you have seen Belly Fusion perform their amazing moves and now it is time to come and take part yourself. A most splendid invitation is extended by the whole group to any lovely toe-tappers who wish to join them for an open level old-time dance-out Belly Fusion style. No former belly dancing experience is required!

12:30 - 13:00

Frenchy and the Punk
This is your chance to see New York duo Frenchy and the Punk perform on the castle bandstand, blending gothic folk, post-punk and alternative cabaret. After their performance they will be available for a meet and merch session in the castle marquee before later in the evening cranking up the volume once again as one of the three headline acts at the Time Travellers Gig (at the Engine Shed).

12:30 - 13:00
The Castle Marquee
Steam Trek Meet-Up
Asylum XII in 2022 saw some amazing Star Trek inspired Steampunk costumes - so much so that we have set aside time on the timetable this year for all of the 'Trek fans of a steampunk disposition to meet up and discuss their outfits, the whole genre and what should come next. Anyone wearing a 'Trek outfit will be welcome to join the Heroes and Villains group for their photoshoot on the Castle Bandstand at 15:30.

12:30 - 13:30
The Men's Prison
Teapot Hill Climb Competition
Just when you thought that racing motorised teapots was an unusual occupation, along comes teapot hill climbing. The clue to the activity is in the name. Bring along your motorised teapot and see how you get on driving up an incline through a marked course. Who will get to the top first? How do teapots that fare well racing on the flat cope when faced with a steep hill? Come and find out. As with all of our features, spectating this challenge is great fun too.

13:00 - 14:00
The Castle Marquee
Frenchy and the Punk Meet and Merch
This is your chance to get up close to Frenchy and the Punk, to find out more about their musical journey, interests, history and how they create their music. It will also be an opportunity to pick up some much sought-after merch (before it sells out at Time Travellers tonight).

13:00 - 14:00
The Heritage Centre
The Making of The Hunting of the Snark
Join film maker Simon DaVison to find out why and how he came to make a 90 minute film based on Lewis Carroll's 'The Hunting of the Snark'. Simon will later be hosting a screening of the film in the County Assembly Rooms (see Asylum Sunday Evening).

13:00 - 13:30
The Castle Banjo
The Wacky and Para-Racers
"How wacky is wacky?" I hear you ask. Well the answer is very wacky. This is your opportunity to see some highly wacky racers take part in a race along the castle banjo. Some will be powered by dubious means, others will be piloted by dubious pilots. Some will finish the course, but quite possibly not all of them. Come and marvel at the inventiveness, weirdness and overall wackiness of them all. The winner will receive a medal. As for the para-racers, much the same applies. But you didn't read that here.

13:00 - 14:00
Westgate School playground
The Steampunk Sallys
Another opportunity to see the awesomeness of the Steampunk Sallys, this time out in the wild of Lincoln. They are on a mission and you are their target. They are hilarious, joyful and awesome, but sometimes a little naughty too.

13:30 - 14:30
The County Assembly Rooms
The Steamstress Squadron Show and Tell
Come along and join members of the Steamstress Squadron for a natter and also an opportunity to share any makes made from items picked up at last year’s swap. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question and yes, safety pins are OK.

13:30 - 14:00
The Castle Banjo
The Jet Pack Race
What could be safer than a jet pack race? Possibly any other kind of race. With jetpacks powered by a host of unusual fuels including unobtanium, dilithium, refined kryptonite and imagination, be prepared to watch the daredevil jet pack racers as they compete for another of the Asylum's most treasured medals. They risk all to put on the most spectacular performance.

14:00 - 14:30
The Castle Bandstand
The Brass Brothers
More Brassy than the Blues Brothers and more Bluesy than Brasso. Come along and hear Steampunk's answer to the Blues Brothers with words that might not quite be 100% how you remember them. Find out why the Brass Brothers are gaining more and more traction in the Steampunk Community.

14:00 - 15:00
The Heritage Centre
Post-Apocalypse 101
Have you ever wondered if there's another awesome alternative scene where you don't have to polish brass all the time? Come and find out everything you always wanted to know about the post-apocalyptic scene. There's costuming, music, games, events and a whole raft of fabulous characters. Some look a bit scary at times, but they are a hugely friendly bunch and will love to tell you what makes them tick.

14:00 - 15:00
The Men's Prison Carpark
Teapot racing
By Sunday at Asylum we're all getting blasé about the idea that teapots are for racing, not really for making tea at all. So if you've not done so before, come along and watch or even try out this most infusing of sports. There will be a medal on the day for the fastest time and an overall MoS medal awarded on Monday for the fastest time of the weekend. Or you can compete for the 'Tea Cosy of Doom' for the slowest time, if you prefer!

14:00 - 15:00
Westgate School carpark

Steampunk Poundland
Come and see the prize giving for this year-long makers challenge. The makes are all on display in the Great Exhibition, but we will be showing photos on screen and talking about each of the builds. Then there will be the opportunity to discuss and plan the next challenge: do you want a specific theme? Would you rather use The Works or Aldi’s legendary middle aisle instead of Poundland? Now is the chance to have your say.

14:30 - 15:00
The Castle Bandstand
Coglings Costume Competition
All fabulously dressed coglings come and show us your steampunk outfit on the Bandstand. There will be a medal for the best outfit and a small gift for all others who take part.

Come and fine out how the Brass Brothers get that high brassy shine on their performances and ask them about their favourite brass polish and whether they have any merch.

15:00 - 15:30
The Castle Bandstand
Group Costume Competition
Are you are a group of friends or a family who have come in coordinated Steampunk outfits? If so, why not enter the Asylum Group costume competition? This will follow on from the coglings competition. To take part please come to the Bandstand and bring a short written description of your outfits.
