AFTERNOON TEA PARTIES

Weekend at the Asylum 16
PNG Dragon on brass.png

Introduction

There will be two afternoon tea parties taking place at the County Assembly Rooms during ASYLUM 16. Both will take place on Friday afternoon, 28 August.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party

First off will be the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party hosted by Fiona and Nimrod from the Ministry of Steampunk. This event will run from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. There is no special dress code but you can expect one or two Mad Hatters, Alice, a Queen or two, the occasional rabbit and maybe the Cheshire cat. But don’t be limited by Lewis Carroll’s imagination – any kind of steampunk outfit is appropriate. Just leave a little space for your waistline to expand during the afternoon.

Tea will include a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread and a selection of sweet treats served with bottomless tea and coffee. Please note if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, you must select the free dietary add on when purchasing your ticket.

At the time of booking you will be able to pre-order a glass of fizz on arrival, if you so wish.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is a fun way to get to know some new people, savour a wonderful afternoon tea and take in the sumptuous surroundings of the Edwardian Suite at the County Assembly Rooms.  Please see below regarding dietary requirements and wristbands.

The cost of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party will be £25 per head + booking fee which covers the catering only.

Afternoon Tea with Alice Strange

Our second Afternoon Tea on Friday afternoon will be a very special opportunity for fans to have afternoon tea with Alice Strange. We know that Alice has many fans, but we only have capacity for a small number to join Alice for this very exclusive feature.

Please note that Alice will not be performing at the Tea Party; if you are a fan, you probably already have a ticket to see her perform at Time Travellers on Sunday evening at the Engine Shed. This event will instead be an opportunity to chat to Alice in person and find out more about her music, interests, costuming and everything else that makes her such a special performer.

During the event Alice will visit each of the tables in the Edwardian Suite to chat to fans and other guests. Although Alice will not be singing she will be bringing along some merch (and a trusty assistant or two) and this will be the first opportunity of the weekend for fans to purchase any of Alice’s merch before anything sells out.

The event will start at 3:30 PM and end at 5:00 PM.

During the event you will be able to enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread served and a selection of sweet treats with bottomless tea and coffee. Please note if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, you must select the free dietary add on when purchasing your ticket. Please see below regarding dietary requirements and wristbands.

At the time of booking you will be able to pre-order a glass of fizz on arrival, if you so wish.

The cost of tickets to Afternoon Tea with Alice Strange will be £25 per head + booking fee which covers the catering only.

Dietary Information

Both events will be suitable for those with allergies and dietary requirements. When you check out please also add a free allergen ticket and a member of the Assembly Rooms team will be in touch prior to the event to ensure there is something you can eat. If you are concerned about dietary requirements you can get in touch at info@countyassemblyrooms.co.uk or call the Assembly Rooms on 01522520098 and they will be more than happy to help.
