After another brilliant Steampunk New Year 2025-26, we will be returning to The Belmont Hotel again to welcome in 2027.
Every single person who came to the 2025-26 event booked their room for the 2026-27 event before leaving the hotel this year, but the hotel does have room for a small number of additional guests to join this very popular event for 2026-2027.
The over-arching theme for this year's event will be 'Steampunk Time Travel'.
Bookings are made directly with the hotel and include a hotel room for three nights with breakfast all three mornings, a buffet meal on the evening of 30 December and the Grand Gala Ball on New Year's Eve.
Guests will arrive at the hotel during the afternoon of 29 December. For the first time this year the hotel will be offering an add-on themed dining experience 'A Taste Through Time' on the first evening which you can opt into if you wish; if not you are free to eat wherever you choose.
A Taste Through Time
Step into a culinary time machine for an evening that celebrates how dining has changed over the past 30
years. You can choose any dish from either menu, go full-on classical, enjoy the best of current, or a mixture of both.
The evening begins with a menu inspired by the classics of three decades ago — familiar dishes, traditional flavours and the kind of presentation that takes you straight back to the early 1990s. Think timeless favourites, nostalgic combinations and a generous helping of retro charm.
But then, something happens…
The menu travels through time.
The very same dishes arrive back in the modern day, reimagined for today’s diner. Familiar ingredients and
classic flavours are transformed through contemporary techniques, modern presentation and a fresh approach to dining.
Two menus. One journey. Thirty years apart.
It’s a chance to compare the past with the present, rediscover forgotten favourites and see just how much or
how little our tastes have changed. A playful celebration of food, nostalgia and culinary evolution, this is dinner with a difference: where yesterday’s classics meet tomorrow’s table.
Booking for A Tast Through Time will be direct with the hotel at the same time that you book menu choices and notify them of dietary requirements for the New Year's Eve Gala Ball. The hotel will contact all guests by email to collect this information.
Before and after dinner on Tuesday 29 December you will be free to meet up with other guests and members of the Ministry of Steampunk in the bar and adjoining rooms. For one night only, it will be 1985 in the Bar, 1955 in the adjacent Games Room and 1885 in the seating area around the corner from the bar. So you will be able to time travel by walking from one area to another.
On 30 and 31 December we will have a relaxed timetable of daytime features you can join in with if you wish. Details will be revealed over the coming weeks but are likely to include talks, dance classes, crafting activities and so on. If you are coming to the event and would like to lead a session please get in touch and we will do our very best to facilitate this.
The Annual General Meeting of the MoS Time Travel Association
On Wednesday evening 30 December guests are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Ministry's Time Travel Association, a serious affair (cough) involving the minutes of next year's meeting, matters arising from both past and future meetings, the appointment of officers past and present and so on. It promises to be an evening of complete clarity.
Food for the evening will comprise 'A Historical Buffet from a Notable Event' - further details will be kept under wraps until the night in question. Expect something very special and make sure you bring your reading glasses along so that you can read the menu notes which will be unlike any meal you have ever seen or eaten before (with appropriate choices to cater for your personal food preferences and special dietary needs).
Last Night on the Titanic
The Grand Gala Dinner on New Year's Eve is going to be themed on the Last Night on the Titanic. The menu the last two years has been out of this world and we are sure that the First Class menu for 2026-2027 will be as out of this world as it will be out of this time.

Breakfast on New Year's Day
On 1 January 2026 we had 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', a very classy affair with a specially themed menu. Breakfast on 1 January 2027 promises to be similarly splended, but as with the buffet on the evening of 30 December, the Time Travel theme will not be revealed in advance.
