Do come and join us both nights, if you dare!

Friday 24 October 19:15 - 23:00

The opening night for Steampunk Halloween IV will be Zombie Night, a chance to get together and socialise with friends and enjoy some live music.

You ‘might’ have to brave the eternal corridor of doom to even get into the ballroom, but once you have entered you will be treated to a special spooky set by the Cogkneys followed by the magnificent Jo Carley and the Old Dry Skulls.

Jo and her band will transport you to a bygone era when witches and black magic were rife.

Their songs tell stories of deals with the devil, demons in love, witchdoctors, zombies, ghosts, more zombies, ghouls, petrifying journeys and more!

But what to wear? Zombies live among us, so you can come as a Zombie or as 'one of us' (in which case watch out for the Zombies!) Recent computer games and television series may also give inspiration - from Fallout to The Last of Us.

Of course any Steampunk attire is welcome at any Ministry of Steampunk event. The Immortal Ball tomorrow night will be the time to dress 'up' in your finest - so for Zombie Night you could do worse than to dress 'down' as your favourite corpse (reanimated, of course).

The Immortal Ball has been the granmd centrepiece of the Ministry of Steampunk's Halloween event since we began in Hull in 2022. We held the first two Immortal Balls in the spleandour of the Guildhall in Hull before relocating to the Lincoln County Assembly Rooms in 2024. We are back at the Assembly Rooms again in 2025 for our fourth Immortal Ball.

We strongly recommend arriving for the ball between 19:00 and 19:30 at which time you will be able to mingle with fellow guests in the Oval Room and the bar. Doors to the Ballrrom will open at 19:30 sharp at which point we recommend that you expect the unexpected. Last year there was an 'incident' with a Weeping Angel. Who knows what will be happen at the Immortal Ball in 2025?

When you book your seats for the ball you will be able to select your main course and let us know any dietary requirements - all of which will be passed through to chef at the Assembly Rooms. The meal will begin with a selection of freshly baked bread with golden oil and rich beef dripping. You will then be served your main course at the table - either steak pie made with tender Lincolnshire beef in a deep savoury gracy, Chicken and Leek pie, or a wholesmoe vegetarian pie filled with locally-sourced vegetables. Whichever option you choose will be served with creamy mashed potato, locally grown carrots and peas with a rich gravy. Dessert will follow - a chocolate brownie with smooth creamy ice cream (dairy-free, vegan and gluten free options can be pre-ordered).

After the meal we will be entertained by the inimitable (incorrigible even) Victor and the Bully. Whilst no strangers to Steampunks in general or The Aslum in particular, this will be Victor and the Bully's first performance at The Immortal Ball. It promises to be a theatrical, energetic and joyous performance and there will be plenty of space to dance and join in the music, mayhem and fun.

But what to wear?

The Immortal Ball is an opportunity to wear your finest attire; if you can add an Immortal Twist, so much the better. You can expect Vampires (but don't forget you can't always see their fangs, so do check the Assembly Rooms mirrrors for reflections if you are in any doubt). The recent screening of Wednesday might encourage members of the Addams family to brace a public event, and or course we expect werewolves too.

The Church of Cthulhu is expected to send some members along and naturally at Halloween you can expect ghosts, perhaps Beetlejuice himself and spectres of every kind.

Hopefully we will have dealt with the worst of any Zombie infestation the previous night at Zombie Night, but we can't be sure that some won't sneak into the ball (last year one hid a rat in his jecket pocket to try and fool the heartbeat detector on arrival, but he was quickly found out when then rat bit clean through the security guard's finger).

As you would expect for a building several centuries old, the County Assembly Rooms has a few dark secrets of its own and it is not without it's own resident collection of ghosts. We have undertaken to leave the premises at mignight so that the resident immortals may enjoy the rest of their night as they deem fit, without human interference.
