EVENING EVENTS

Weekend at the Asylum 16
PNG Dragon on brass.png

Introduction

Every year at Asylum we try to create the best evening events that we can, at a variety of price points, including evenings of varying style and content. We try to book a mixture of performers with a balance between popular favourites and performers who are new to Asylum or else are playing in a new style or within a new ensemble.

We are delighted to announce the suite of events we have put together for Asylum 16 and hope that whatever your preference you will find one or more events that are right up your street.

So what will be happening on which night at Asylum 16?

Thursday night will start with the Advanced Guard and this year musical entertainment will be provided by alternative vocalist and guitarist Martin Gregory.

On Friday you have two choices. At the Engine Shed, Steam Pirate Night will begin with Madam Misfit, who will be followed by Frankie Heartless and the Heartless Rogues. Headlining the night will be The Captain's Beard.

Also on Friday night will be our second Cybernight taking place at the County Assembly Rooms.

Saturday night the DecoDance will return to the County Assembly Rooms with Miss Trixie Holiday and the Vacationers, followed by Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer.

On Saturday at the Lincoln Arts Centre you will find the Asylum Burlesque Show with Bambi Bang Bang!,  Lena Lenman, The Magic Ball Man, Ruby Derriere, Seedy Frills, Scarlet Butterfly and Oola Pearl.

On Sunday you will be spoiled for choice again. Time Travellers at the Engine Shed will be headlined by Victor and the Bully, supported by Alice Strange and Poison Garden who will be flying over from Italy to perform.

Also on Sunday we have a new kind of evening event, the Wild Wild West with line dancing, Kitten Von Mew and The Brass Brothers.

Finally, on Monday evening, this year's Dead Dog party will include music from Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq. and the Fancy Chaps.

Evening events require prebooked tickets.  Admission to the Advance Guard is restricted to those who have proof of purchase of a weekend wristband as well as a ticket to the event. Admission to the Dead Dog Party will require a festival wristband as well as a ticket to the event.

All other evening events are open to those with or without wristbands although for obvious reasons (i.e. to fund the daytime content of the festival) we hope that as many as possible will buy daytime wristbands to support the event.

As it says elsewhere on the website, free carer’s daytime wristbands are available to adult wristband holders (see the wristband and FAQ pages for further details) however we are sorry but we are not able to provide free carer tickets for evening shows. The venues we use for evening shows do all have disabled access.

The coloured buttons below will take you to a set of pages - one for each night.

Please take careful note of the following

The information on the following pages is correct to the best of our knowledge at the current time. If any changes have to be made (to start or end times, for example) then the relevant pages will be updated. If you buy tickets to any of these events, please check back closer to the event to make sure you have the most up to date information.

What to wear to evening events?

Many steampunks will want to attend the evening events suitably 'dressed for the occasion', but when you are thinking about what to wear to evening events, please do bear in mind the following:

  • No weapons are allowed at evening events.

  • Please think carefully before wearing an enormous skirt; the seats at our venues are designed for normal 21st century outfits and you may struggle to fit if you are wearing a voluminous outfit.

  • Please also think carefully about headwear. Huge hats are not appropriate at evening events as they will block the view for other people.

  • For most evening events the audience is pretty much in the dark most of the time. If you are going to create and wear an elaborate outfit at some point during the Asylum it will be much better seen in the daytime than at an evening event.
