THE MINISTRY OF STEAMPUNK
Introduction
There will be two afternoon tea parties taking place at the County Assembly Rooms during AXV. Both will take place on Friday afternoon, 22 August.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party
First off will be the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party hosted by Fiona and Nimrod from the Ministry of Steampunk. This event will run from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. There is no special dress code but you can expect one or two Mad Hatters, Alice, a Queen or two, the occasional rabbit and maybe the Cheshire cat. But don’t be limited by Lewis Carroll’s imagination – any kind of steampunk outfit is appropriate. Just leave a little space for your waistline to expand during the afternoon.
Tea will include a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread and a selection of sweet treats served with bottomless tea and coffee.
At the time of booking you will be able to pre-order a glass of fizz on arrival, if you so wish.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is a fun way to get to know some new people, savour a wonderful afternoon tea and take in the sumptuous surroundings of the Edwardian Suite at the County Assembly Rooms.
Please see below regarding dietary requirements and wristbands.
The cost of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party will be £25 per head + booking fee which covers the catering only.

Afternoon Tea with Steam Powered Giraffe
Our second Afternoon Tea on Friday afternoon will be a very rare opportunity for fans to have afternoon tea with Steam Powered Giraffe. This weekend will be SPG’s first visit to Europe since 2018 and they are very excited to meet their fans – but only a few will have the opportunity to join them for this very exclusive feature.
Please note that SPG will not be in makeup or costume for this event; it will be an opportunity for you to meet the people behind the robot characters (but there is nothing to stop you coming as your favourite robot if you so wish!)
During the event the members of SPG will visit each of the tables in the Edwardian Suite to chat to fans.
The event will start at 3:30 PM and end at 5:00 PM.
During the event you will be able to enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread served and a selection of sweet treats with bottomless tea and coffee.
At the time of booking you will be able to pre-order a glass of fizz on arrival, if you so wish.
Please see below regarding dietary requirements and wristbands.
The cost of tickets to Afternoon Tea with SPG will be £65 per head + booking fee.
Dietary Information
Both events will be suitable for those with allergies and dietary requirements. You will be able to make a
note of your requirements when placing your booking.

Festival Wristbands and Tea Party Tickets
The tea parties are being operated by the County Assembly Rooms during Weekend at the Asylum, the steampunk festival. In order to attend one of the tea parties you must have both a festival wristband (to access the building) and a tea party ticket (to gain entry to the tea party).
